The Madison County School System recently released their Fall 2019 School Resource newsletter.
This latest issue of the newsletter focuses on vaping, which the newsletter says is “a health problem that is directly and significantly impacting [Madison County] students.”
The newsletter contains basics of vaping, such as current definitions, general health effects, and effects vaping has on the adolescent brain. Sources include the Alabama Department of Health, Auburn University, the FDA, and the CDC.
The newsletter also contains the school system’s full policy on vaping, tabacco use, and drug and alcohol use.
Vaping is prohibited in school buildings, on school grounds, on school buses, and is not permitted at any school-sponsored function. Students who violate this policy are subject to suspension or other disciplinary actions per the student code of conduct.
