Recovery effort continues after deadly dock fire in Scottsboro

A barge carries a crane to life sunken boats out of the water at the Jackson County Marina Park in Scottsboro, AL.

Crews continue to work in the area of the Jackson County Marina Park dock that was the scene of a deadly fire on Monday.

At least 8 people were killed when a fire destroyed a dock and approximately 35 boats.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, with special fire teams from the ATF working alongside local and state officials to determine what happened.

WZDX was live at this morning’s update on the tragedy.

According to the Jackson County Coroner, four of the dead were children, ages 7, 9, 10, and 16.

Jennifer Sanders, co-owner of KC’s BBQ, shared what it’s been like to help first responders and the community after this event.
