More roadwork is underway in Jones Valley before the expected re-opening of Cecil Ashburn Drive on October 31.
Contractors are resurfacing Carl T. Jones from Whitesburg Drive to Four Mile Post Road. The work will be performed from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m and should take about seven weeks to complete.
Two lanes, one in each direction, are expected to open on Cecil Ashburn Drive between Sutton Road and Donegal Drive by the end of October.
According to the City of Huntsville, the remaining work to meet the full project scope will continue after October and includes completing concrete ditches along the north side, completing the remaining lanes on Sutton Road, installing the final open-graded friction course layer, and adding permanent striping and signage as the westbound lanes are completed. The remaining scope will be temperature and weather dependent as work continues after two lanes are reopen.
