The missing boater on Wilson Lake, Dillion Q. Long, was recovered early this morning, Aug. 13 by members of Florence PD. He was located in the area where the search was being conducted.
The Lauderdale County Coroner has taken possession of Mr. Long. The investigation is ongoing.
ALEA Marine Patrol reported the search area was approximately 60 feet deep, and rescue crews have used sonars, an underwater camera, divers, an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and cadaver dogs assisted in the search.
A Florence man is missing following a boating incident Sunday evening.
At approximately 6:20 p.m. Aug. 11, Dallion Q. Long, 28, of Florence fell overboard while boating on Wilson Lake. He was not wearing a personal flotation device.
Killen VFD, Florence Fire, Florence Police, Lauderdale Co. Sheriff’s Dept., Lauderdale Co. EMA, the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Game and Fish Division, and ALEA Marine Patrol all assisted with the search for Long. Search efforts will continue Monday morning.
