Hundreds of people came out to Arab City Park today for some free fun.

Arab Parks and Recreation put on the first SugarFest event to bring something new to the town.

The day started with a 5K run and a beauty pageant and continued with swimming and carnival rides. People who came out also got to enjoy live music, farm animals, food trucks, and other vendors.

Arab Parks and Recreation Director, Eric Hayes, says he hope the event brings positive economic impact to Arab.

“We’ve talked to some of our food vendors, and they say this is some of their best sales yet,” said Hayes.

The event will end with a fireworks show and a movie. They say they hope to make SugarFest an annual event.
