Outdoor Alabama’s annual photo contest is now open and looking for your best shots of the state.

The contest is open to youth and adults, and each person can enter a total of ten photos. This year’s categories are:

Birds of a Feather
Bugs and Butterflies
Coastal Life
Cold-Blooded Critters
Nature-Based Recreation
Shoots and Roots )cultivated flowers, shrubs, etc. are excluded)
State Park Adventures
Sweet Home Alabama
Watchable Wildlife (pets and livestock excluded)
Waterfalls (public or private land)
Young Photographers (photographers through age 15 will compete amongst themselves)
and a new special category, “Find a Refuge”, for photos taken on one of Alabama’s 11 National Wildlife Refuges managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in Alabama.

The contest is open to anyone, residents or visitors, but the photos have to be taken in Alabama to qualify.

Photos must be uploaded digitally from a computer, tablet or mobile phone. Complete category and entry information is available here.
