Over $790,000 in grants was given to local organizations by companies within the Corporate Giving Network in partnership with the Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville.
A press conference was hosted by the Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville to celebrate giving back. Locals gathered in the auditorium of the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber for the announcement.
We spoke to Melissa Thompson, the CEO/ President of the Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville. She tells us that this was all about helping provide local groups with the resources they need to continue to grow the community. Thompson adds, “As excited as our recipients were to get the money, the companies that were giving the money had bigger smiles on their faces… Because, we really do believe it feels good to be generous.”
“Giving Tuesday” is celebrated each year on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. It’s is an internationally recognized day of charity that kicks off the holiday season with a spirit of generosity.
The more popular “Black Friday” and “Cyber Monday” seem to get most of the attention during the holiday weekend. But, people across the world save a little bit of that shopping money and give to organizations that need their help.
