Former Morgan County Sheriff Ana Franklin loses another round in court.
The 11th circuit court of appeals rejected arguments that Franklin’s investigation that led to the arrest of a former county jailer was covered under state immunity protections.
The ruling came in a different lawsuit filed by former Morgan County Jail Warden Leon Bradley against Franklin and a number of her then deputies. Bradley was arrested two years ago, accused of tampering with government documents.
Those charges were later dropped when a judge found that Sheriff Franklin and an investigator had misled the court in getting a search warrant and encouraged illegal entry.
The suit alleges Franklin violated the RICO Act and also four different amendments in the constitution.
