Enterprise man arrested for animal cruelty after burning puppy

An Enterprise man is behind bars Monday after he allegedly burned his own puppy.

On Sept. 13, the Enterprise Police Department responded an animal cruelty at a residence on Rucker Blvd. in Enterprise after a concerned citizen reported she found a small puppy in need of medical attention. Officers found the puppy with severe burns to its feet, belly, and nose, and transported it to a local veterinarian for urgent medical care.

The puppy did not survive these injuries. Detectives later found a burn pit at a nearby residence and identified the suspect as the owner of the puppy.

On Monday, Sept. 16, at 4:00 p.m., EPD Detectives arrested Taurence Yaphet Marshall, 35 of Enterprise, on a charge of 1st Degree Animal Cruelty. He is currently being held at the Dale County Jail.
