On Tuesday, Nov. 19, family, friends, and supporters of Dana Fletcher came out to the Von Braun Center to remember him at what they called a “Morgue After Party.”
Dana Fletcher was shot and killed by Madison Police outside Planet Fitness last month. Investigators say it happened when Fletcher pointed a gun at officers, after refusing to get out of his van. Last week, the district attorney’s office determined the officers’ use of lethal force was justified, but the people who came to the memorial today say they’re still left with more questions.
“I feel like as a community, I think there are some answers we’re still looking for, um, and I think that if people would just open their minds and just look to see the truth, um, we can move to a better place,” Neshonne McDonald, a friend of Dana Fletcher’s family said.
The Madison Police Department is currently conducting an internal investigation into the shooting.
