Huntsville City Council President and District 1 Representative Devyn Keith responded to Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle’s veto of a proposed pay raise.
The pay raise, if it had passes, would have increased the mayor’s pay be about 1/3 and the council members’ pay as a percentage of that.
Councilman Keith’s response focuses on concerns about pay raises for elected public servants, and the ability of working-class people to run for and serve in political office.
