ALEA Marine Patrol announced that the body of missing boater Derek Lane was discovered by a local fisherman Thursday morning.
Limestone/Athens Search & Rescue, Morgan County Search & Rescue, Limestone County Sheriff’s Office and ALEA Marine Patrol Division assisted with the recovery.
According to the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office, Lane either jumped or fell out of a boat as it was nearing the dock Monday night.
Rogersville Fire & Rescue, the Morgan County Rescue Squad, and ALEA are assisting on the operation, which is concentrated near the Limestone County side of Wheeler Lake in the area of River Mile Marker 291.

The search has been suspended because of the weather and will resume Thursday morning.

Marine Police say they are searching for 56-year old Derek Lane who is from Athens.

The search has resumed for a boater missing after an incident Tuesday night.
According to the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office, the possible drowning victim is a man in his 50s who reportedly either jumped or fell out of a boat last night as it was nearing the dock.
