Alabama education officials have a big request for next year’s education budget.
State school superintendent, Dr. Eric Mackey, is asking lawmakers for $300 million dollars for next year’s budget on top of nearly $5 billion dollars allocated for this year’s budget.
Mackey presented the budget proposal to the state board of education during a work session yesterday.
He says his proposal is based on needs, not wants.
