An Alabama native is the Nation’s next commander of U.S. nuclear forces.
Vice Admiral Charles “Chas” Richard will lead U.S. Strategic Command, which overseers of the nation’s nuclear arsenal. He’s a 27-year member of the Navy’s submarine force and was unanimously confirmed by the U.S. senate in late October.
He is a native of Decatur and a 1982 honors graduate of the University of Alabama.
