Space pop culture comes alive in newest USSRC exhibit

Outer space comes alive through pop culture at the Space and Rocket Center’s newest exhibit.

Space Craze takes you through the history of America’s favorite toys, movies, and games to show how a fascination with space has impacted them all. It may be a trip back in time if you recognize some of the memorabilia like Snoopy and Star Trek.

The exhibit is a part of the Apollo 50th anniversary celebration. Major festivities begin at the USSRC for the anniversary on the 13th.

“All this stuff is really inspired by the idea, having people think beyond just their day to day lives and the possibilities,” said Spokesperson Pat Ammons. “And of course you can’t have an exhibit like this without seeing the influence of that on Star Trek and Star Wars too.”

WZDX News also got to check out the Apollo 11 virtual reality exhibit. It takes you to the moon in a vibrating chair and will only be there this year.
