More industrial projects are bringing more job opportunities for skilled trade workers in Decatur.
Right now Decatur does not have enough laborers in the market to support the growing need for skilled workers. Calhoun Community College is offering work force development to fill that need. There are also many contractors in Decatur that are providing internal training.
“Our contractors they will invest in them, they will teach them, send them to school, either one at their facility in the evening or through a training program like Calhoun,” explained Mayor Tab Bowling.
Economists say Decatur’s job growth rate could soon outpace America’s. Thirty percent job growth is expected over the next decade.
