The Secretary of the Army was in Huntsville Tuesday to focus on the future of military aviation.
Redstone Arsenal is the headquarters for the team working on the future vertical lift. It’s the new technology officials say will replace the helicopter and give aircrafts the ability to go straight up.
This is one of the Army’s six modernization priorities for the new Army Futures Command.
“Thirty-one programs are critical to the future success of the Army on the modern battlefield and so we really need to make sure that we hit our timelines, that we and the companies with whom we are working or contracting meet their cost schedule and performance milestones,”said Secretary of the Army Dr. Mark Esper. “And that’s the conversation I had this morning with Northrup Grumman.”
