Robotics Technology Park in Decatur could soon train Mazda-Toyota employees

The City of Decatur is expanding its footprint.

The Secretary of Commerce approved the annexation of the property where the Robotics Technology Park is located. The robotics park will be where the 4,000 incoming Mazda-Toyota employees will train.
Mayor Tab Bowling said this is huge for workforce development in the city of Decatur.

“Robots are doing a lot of the work, so they need to be programed, you have to maintain them all that. So that training will be done at what we hope, with Council approval, at the Robotics Technology Park,” said Mayor Tab Bowling.

Decatur City Council could vote on the annexation as soon as January 22nd.
