This morning, construction began at the intersection of Madison Boulevard and Zierdt Road/Shelton Road as part of the final phase of the Zierdt Road improvement project.
Workers are widening the roadways and laying storm drain across the intersection. They will be adding a new traffic light at the Madison Boulevard intersection as well.
There will be temporary lane closures in the area until the project is done.
Director of Engineering for the City of Huntsville, Kathy Martin, said, “This will take about four to five months to complete. He is working during non-peak hours so between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm.”
Traffic control will be in place to help direct motorists through the construction area. Please use caution when traveling in this area and obey all traffic control signage.
