Renovations at Joe Wheeler State Park Unveiled

New improvements at Joe Wheeler State Park were unveiled at a ribbon cutting ceremony Wednesday.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Wednesday marking new improvements and renovations at at Joe Wheeler State Park in Rogersville.

Nearly a million dollars in renovations were made throughout the 2,550-acre park. According to Park Superintendent Chad Davis, most of the updates were made to the Joe Wheeler Lodge. Improvements were made to the lodge’s lobby as well as all guest rooms, which have new furnishings. Dog-friendly rooms have also been added. Renovations also include landscaping, new windows at the marina and lodge, as well as new furniture inside the lodge and outdoors.

Davis says for years, a lack of funding blocked updates and improvements from being made at the park, but passage of Amendment 2 in 2016 made the funds available to make the renovations.
