Raising money for veterans with 6,000 piece Christmas village

Christmas Village

A Limestone County man and his late wife collected over 6,000 Christmas village pieces over 30 years. Now, their village is being used to raise money for U.S. veterans.

Candy Jones passed away in September this year.

Richard Jones’s late wife, Candy, started by making a ceramic of what looked like the Tennessee home her mother was born in.

Jones’s wife passed away in September this year. He decided to set up every piece of the village by himself this Christmas.

“This year was a tough one for me. She was my best friend, and I look at that and I know she’s right there with me,” said Jones.

The tiny village pieces are raising money for the senior veterans group, Forever Young this year.

Jones will continue to show off the village and collect donations next Saturday at the Limestone County Flea Market.
