“Park and Recreation Month” hits Huntsville

The Rocket City is celebrating its parks. Mayor Tommy Battle proclaims July “Park and Recreation Month” in Huntsville.
 
Today the mayor kicked off a social media campaign to celebrate and encourage more people to use the city’s parks. People are encouraged to take selfies using the hashtag #SuperParkSelfieHSV. Mayor Battle says it’s a great way to showcase the best the rocket city has to offer.
 
Mayor Tommy Battle says, “This is a big part of our quality of life. Having something for everybody and having people who want to be a part of Huntsville, this makes for that activity that makes people a part of Huntsville.”
 
Mayor Battle says the city will host a weekly Facebook live session every Thursday this month at 2 P.M. to showcase different parks, greenways or rec centers.
