One of the last surviving members of the legendary Tuskegee Airmen from World War II has died.
Retired U.S. Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Robert Friend was 99 years old. His daughter said he died of sepsis.
The Tuskegee Airmen were the first all-black squadron and were based at Alabama’s Tuskegee Army Airfield. His daughter said until last year, he was signing autographs and sharing his story with school children.
