North Alabama will be welcoming several new businesses in the upcoming years. The growth has city leaders expecting an economic jump.

Town Madison and MidCity are just two developments contributing to the booming business growth. Last week, Duluth Trading Co. broke ground on their new location that will be placed in Town Madison near the new Trash Panda’s stadium.

MidCity will welcome REI to their campus within the next year or two also. The MidCity location will be REI’s first Alabama location. According to the Huntsville Chamber of Commerce they are excited to bring more outdoor products to the community.

“It is exciting to see MidCity take shape as different stores announce, including REI. We have great offerings here in terms of outdoor activities, including lakes, camping, caving and hiking, and REI sells products North Alabama residents will put to good use,” said Huntsville Chamber VP of Marketing and Communications, Claire Aiello.

The Madison Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, Pam Honeycutt said the attraction to our city starts with the education system and continues through the easily accessible locations available for businesses.

“When businesses see we have the structure for them with Town Madison coming, they want to be in there and apart of it right off the interstate. They want to make use of all that cross traffic and it’ll be a perfect spot for them to be able to feature their businesses,” she said.

Economically, the city of Madison expects to see a jump in the right direction.

“Certainly we’re hoping it will bring money into the community as people come in to spend their money and their time here. And of course we want to have them here, so we can attract more people to our town.”
