Movers for Moms campaign recognizes women in need on Mother's Day

An annual program is recognizing women in need on Mother's Day.

The Movers for Moms campaign kicked off today. Two Men and a Truck have teamed up with more than 100 partners to collect essential items for women of Owen's House. Owen's House is a women and children's facility at the Downtown Rescue Mission. The goal of Movers for Moms is to help women who are currently in a crisis situation.

“A lot of women that go into shelters are running from crisis situations like domestic violence, homelessness or drug abuse, so a lot of the women at Owen's House probably are in same situations,” said Stephanie Mills with Two Men and a Truck.

Businesses throughout Huntsville and Madison will be collecting items including toiletries, women's underwear, socks and diapers through May 12th. The items will be delivered to the Owen's House just in time for Mother's Day.

The first week and last weeks of collection will be reflected. The Regions Center in Downtown Huntsville will be lighting up it's building purple, instead of green.
