Because of the amount of presents given on Christmas, holiday gift returns are inevitable.
Some retailers make it simple to return items, and others can make returning purchases nearly impossible. If you end up with a gift you need to return, don’t wait. Some stores have time limits in their return policies.
You may have no luck returning a gift without a receipt, or a retailer may just give in-store credit. When you do return an item, have the receipt on hand.
Don’t open boxes or take off tags. If the item’s packaging isn’t intact, stores may charge a restocking fee.
Make sure to bring your ID when returning gifts. Some stores now use computers to authorize returns, so you may be asked to show your driver’s license.
Before returning anything, know the return policies online and in stores.
