The City of Madison is turning 150 years old next year and the police department is celebrating.
In honor of the City of Madison’s Sesquicentennial birthday, all police officers will be given a commemorative badge to wear. The Madison Police Department first began as a constabulary with one officer working at a time. As the city grew, so did the department, with a total of 89 officers now. A big part of the department’s growth is technology.
“Streamlines a lot of our operations, gives us an opportunity to really making sure that our city stays safe and secure and expands those partnerships that we have,” said Capt. John Stringer.
Officers will begin wearing the special badges Jan. 1 and throughout the entire year to honor this momentous occasion.
