The 15-year-old suspect in the Tuesday night stabbing in Limestone County that left her mother and sister dead is now charged with two counts of Capital Murder.
Because these are juvenile charges, the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office says that no further information can be released at this time.
The Limestone County Sheriff’s Office has identified the two women killed in Tuesday night’s stabbing incident.
They are Rosa Lee Maldonado, 19, and her mother, Rosa Aminta Maldonado, 44. The suspect is the 15-year-old daughter of Rosa Aminta and sister of Rosa Lee.
Limestone County Sheriff’s deputies have been on the scene since late Tuesday night investigating the those murders.
Shortly after 1:00 a.m., they received a call that a female was bleeding out and they needed to get there.
When deputies arrived to West Schoolhouse Road, there were two deceased females, a 44-year-old and a 19-year-old. A third, 15 years old, was attempting to stab herself in the head and neck area.
Limestone County PIO Stephen Young says the woman who was apparently trying to commit suicide when authorities arrived was the daughter of one of the two deceased women and sister to the other deceased woman, who was in her teens.
Authorities haven’t determined who made the call.
It’s being being called a domestic altercation. What led up to it is being investigated.
Young says, “”I guess the important thing is the tragic nature of some of these domestic situations. It’s a case where we had been out there before. We had dealt with one of those individuals before. It was a family issue.”
The two deceased females were the mother and sister of the suspect.
The name of the suspect is not yet being released. Deputies say they are still working to confirm identity, and the investigation is ongoing.
The suspect is currently at Huntsville Hospital where she is being treated. According to Young, the suspect could face capital murder or a number of lesser charges.
