Limestone County Sheriff Mike Blakely set a record for consecutive terms by a sheriff in Alabama history.
Blakely was sworn in Wednesday for his 10th consecutive term. He says it will be his last.
Blakely says it’s important to listen to the people he serves. He says he’s ready to buckle down and tackle the biggest issues with those who’ve been right beside him for nearly 40 years.
“I looked out, I saw people that helped make some of the first signs when I first ran in 1982 and that’s very humbling when you see people who’ve stuck with you for the last 36 years,” Blakely said.
The honorable Judge Robert Baker presided over the ceremony.
