LifeSouth’s Summer Kick-off Spectacular Blood Drives


 LifeSouth Community Blood Centers is holding its Summer Kick-off Spectacular Blood Drives in the North Alabama area on Friday, May 25, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Summer is historically a slow time for blood donations due to travel and school breaks, while the need to help patients in local hospitals remains constant. LifeSouth invites the community to sit back, relax and save lives by donating blood to start the summer off right. They are encouraging all community members to donate to help ensure they maintain an adequate blood supply throughout the summer. Locations are as follows:

  • Walmart on Hwy 431 in Guntersville
  • Walmart on Spring Ave in Decatur
  • Dick’s Sporting Goods on Cox Creek Pkwy in Florence
  • Walmart on Hwy 231 in Hazel Green
  • Walmart on Hwy 72 W in Athens
  • Walmart on S. Memorial Pkwy in Huntsville

The Summer Spectacular Kick-off Blood Drives also take place through Memorial Day Weekend at the following LifeSouth locations:

  •  Huntsville Hospital Donor Center in Huntsville
    •  Saturday from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
    • Sunday from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.
  •  Shoals Region Donor Center in Florence
    • Saturday from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
    • Sunday from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.
  •  Morgan Region Donor Center in Decatur
    • Saturday from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
    • Sunday from 8 p.m. – noon

During the drive, donors can enjoy complimentary treats and other appreciation items. Through May 31, all donors will be entered to win a Tundra 50 Yeti cooler. The goal for the day is to draw 248 or more donors.

Blood donors must be at least 17 or 16 with parental permission, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and be in good health. A photo ID is required.
