Huntsville native John Petty says he plans on returning to Alabama.

The sophomore guard was one of four Crimson Tide players to enter the transfer portal this week after the firing of former head coach Avery Johnson.

Petty told the Stadium on Friday that he plans to stay at Alabama to play under new Tide head coach Nate Oats.

In Oats’ introductory press conference on Thursday, he said they were going to try their best to get some of the players to stay.

We’re going to work hard to recruit the kids that we want back. Some of them, we may not want all of them back that’s something we have to sit down and evaluate everything. That was part of me talking to the assistants was that we need a culture here that wants to work and work hard have great attitudes and Kira is definitely one of those  that we definitely want back and we’re gonna work as hard as we can to keep him here.

We will keep you updated on the other players that have entered their names into the transfer portal as information becomes available.
