Huntsville rec centers offering free activities to get communities involved

Recreation centers in Huntsville opened their doors tonight to show the community all they offer.

The Dr. Richard Showers, Sr. Recreation Center gave families the chance to enjoy a night full of free activities.

Kids enjoyed making bracelets, learning new soccer skills, and face painting. The open house is meant to give the community the chance to find new activities and get involved.

Ashley Polesak, Public Relations Officer for the Department of Parks and Recreation, said, “It’s kind of just easy to walk from room to room and see what’s going on for the night.”

“It’s just better for the kids to be around more positive people,” said Brittany Ward, an open house participant.

There will be more open house events at Brahan Spring, Max Luther Drive, and Optimist Recreation Centers this Thursday. Click here for a full list.
