Huntsville City Schools reminding parents to keep sick students at home

Huntsville City Schools want sick kids to stay at home this cold and flu season.

If a student has contagious symptoms such as fever, skin rash, vomiting, diarrhea, respiratory cough, they require that a child not return to school until 24 hours after the last episode of sickness.

The custodians and school staff are taking extra steps to disinfect the buildings, but principals and teachers need parents help to keep the hallways safe and healthy.

Keith Ward with Huntsville City Schools said, “If a student is sick, it’s going to be hard for them to study in class. Secondly, they could spread those germs to other kids, and it keeps you know, spreading a little further.”

If you must keep your student home, they should submit a doctor’s excuse when they go back to school.
