Runways at Huntsville International Airport were pre-treated Monday before noon.
Officials there say it’s important to know the airport will be open during the expected weather event. They have a number of large trucks and a plan to get ice and snow off the runways.
A spokeswoman says the airport got a grant to have more equipment than the usual southern city because they’re a diversion airport.
“Overnight tonight we actually have a smaller crew that’s gonna be onsite all nightlong,” said Megan Brantley with the airport. “They’re gonna be ready to go as soon as the snow begins this morning and in the early morning hours to be out there with trucks like the one behind me.”
She says to check your flight schedule in case other airports have problems that delay your flight.
