HPD searching for man who robbed an elderly woman at knifepoint

Huntsville Police are searching for a man who robbed an elderly woman Saturday, Dec. 29.

According to information released by the department, at approximately 7:30 this morning, the 78-year-old woman was taking several trash bags out from her residence to the curb when a young black male approached her and offered assistance.

The woman accepted his help and he assisted her in taking several trash bags from her residence to the curb. Once they finished, the young man followed the woman back inside her residence and the woman reportedly gave him $5 for his assistance.

The young man then reportedly placed a knife to the back of the woman’s neck and demanded all of her money. She then gave him more cash. The young man then reportedly began looking through the woman’s residence for items of value. During this time, the woman was able to get outside and summon assistance.

The young man fled on foot prior to arrival of police.
