Hazel Green VFD to cut response time with new station

Firefighters in Hazel Green are slashing their response time by building another fire station in their district.

Hazel Green Volunteer Fire Department is building a station near Moores Mill Intermediate School. Fire officials say that area is growing rapidly and by adding a station they can get to your emergency faster.

“We’ve got anywhere between five and six new neighborhoods that I know of,” said Danielle Watson with HGVFD. “Expanding our department is a must and that just allows for us to be able to better respond to emergency calls.”

The goal is to have the new department up and running by the fall. It will be the fourth one in that district.
