Grandson of Mahatma Gandhi to speak in Huntsville Saturday


Socio-political activist, journalist, philanthropist and author, Arun Gandhi will speak at A Ray of Hope Event 2019

On Saturday, folks in Huntsville have a chance to hear from the grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, the ‘Father of the Indian Nation’. The fifth grandson of one of the most inspiring leaders in history, Arun Gandhi will speak at A Ray of Hope Event 2019. The socio-political activist, journalist, philanthropist, and author is expected to share some of his inspiring personal story as well as carry on his grandfather’s message of turning anger into an agent of change for good.

The event, which is hosted by AshaKiran, will be held at the VBC North Hall from 11AM until 6PM. There, folks will have the opportunity to experience a taste of India. There will be dances, yoga and meditation, a fashion show, as well as a bazaar with vendors and Indian cuisine. Jewelry, diamonds, and fashion will be for sale. Attendees will also have the chance to take photos in front of the Taj Mahal. Yoga, meditation, and breath control sessions at the event will be offered for free and will be going on throughout the day. A limited number of yoga mats will be available.

Tickets to the event are $5.

Proceeds will benefit AshaKiran, which offers help to individuals in the area who are foreign-born and are experiencing crisis. AshaKiran offers culturally competent services, free of charge, in over 45 languages to diverse communities throughout the state.
