Governor Kay Ivey in Wetumpka today, just two days after an EF-2 tornado damaged a residential area downtown.
The Governor spent the afternoon touring the damaged from Saturday’s storm.
She met with people who lost their homes like the Watson family.
Sheron Watson sayS she thought she could handle coming back again, but never saw the side of the house until today..
There’s still a massive clean up effort underway, and devastation among the people.
Mayor of Wetumpka, Jerry Willis says most of the debris has been moved from the road.
Mayor Willis say they lost numerous homes, historical homes and historical churches. One of the churches was 163 years old.
As the days go on, and the clean up continue, the city bound to come back as one.
Over 300 volunteers came out to help with cleanup effort, and many of them were from Maxwell Air Force Base.
