Fresh packaged veggies recalled; Trader Joe’s among distributors


Fresh vegetables from Growers Express, which packages items for a number of retail outlets, has issued a recall due to the risk of Listeria contamination in select products.

While most affected items are at retailers in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic, Trader Joe’s Butternut Squash Spirals and Zucchini Spirals, sold in Alabama, Tennessee, and Georgia are on the list. Most of the affected products are labeled with a “Best If Used By” Date of June 26 – June 29, 2019. No other Growers Express products are impacted or part of this recall.

If you purchased any of the products from the affected sell by dates or with an unreadable date code, you are urged not to consume them and to throw the products away. Click here for a complete list of affected products.

Distributors and retailers also have been notified to remove any remaining products from shelves and inventory.
