The 6th annual Paper Chase 5K race will see hundreds of teachers, students and supporters of area non-profit Free 2 Teach run through downtown Huntsville on February 23.
Free 2 Teach is a volunteer-run free store for teachers stocked with teaching resources and supplies donated by the community. Teachers can shop there free of charge to get what they need for their classrooms, from pencils and paper to science supplies and hand cleaner.
The Paper Chase 5K is one of the organization’s chief fundraisers. The races’ Presenting Sponsor, Jerry Damson Honda Acura, has supported the run it began. “We believe in the mission of Free 2 Teach to make sure every child has what they need to succeed,” says Deke Damson, “Education is vital to us and we love supporting this race.”
This year’s race features the new FirstBank School Challenge. Teachers, staff, friends, and family can register and indicate which Madison County public school they are supporting. The school with the most registered runners will receive a $1,500 cash-prize from FirstBank to go towards their school library.
