Elkmont shooting believed to be connected to years-long property dispute

An Elkmont man is dead after an altercation believed to be connected to a years-long property dispute.

William Brantley, 60, was shot to death near the intersection of Rooker Lane and Oak Grove Road around 7:30 Thursday evening. Kenneth Adams was identified as the man who shot Brantley.

According to the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office, both men were armed at the time of the altercation. Deputies and investigators who responded to the scene interviewed witnesses and Adams and are continuing those interviews.

Brantley’s body will be sent for autopsy and Sheriff Mike Blakely says that they expect the results of the investigation to be presented to a grand jury for consideration.
