Earth Day Festival at Hays Nature Preserve


Operation Green Team is celebrating Earth Day with a FREE family friendly festival Saturday, April 20 from 10 am – 2 pm at Hays Nature Preserve.

Over 80 earth-friendly exhibitors with informative displays and demostrations will be there.

The day kicks off with an 8 am Bird Outing with John Ehinger. 

Butterfly releases will take place at 11am and 1pm.

Learn about and get up close to a Golden Eagle from the Southeastern Raptor Center and more animals that soar, slither and crawl with the Alabama 4H Science School.

Kite flying will take place in the big field, and if you forget yours, don’t worry, they will have kites to borrow. Face painting and various children’s activities are among the events planned throughout the day.

Mrs. Annie’s Kitchen will be open with free sausage biscuits while supplies last, compliments of and served by John Hays & Jim Hays.

Enjoy free hot dogs, drinks, and popcorn. Please bring a reusable water bottle to use at their refilling stations.
