Both tears and laughter filled the gym of Huntsville Junior High today.

Students and faculty have been raising money all week in honor of Aaron Masterson. Aaron was a student at the middle school. He suffered with cystic fibrosis and passed away last February from complications of the flu.

Students presented the $2,500 check to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Aaron’s friends and teachers were inspired by him and raised money with the penny drop this year in his honor. After the money raised was matched, students were able to present the $2,500 check to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Aaron’s friends say he was a joy to be around and didn’t let cystic fibrosis take his smile away.

“It was just really inspiring and great to be friends with someone who was always happy and who always had a smile on his face and lit up the room even with his disease,” said Aaron’s friend, Grace Quadrini.
