Dog owners sentenced in Animal Cruelty case

Helena Michelle Moses and Joseph Lee Fisher were sentenced to 12 months in jail after pleading guilty to Animal Cruelty charges in Jackson County.

They have to serve 90 days of that sentence and are on probation for two years following their jail terms. They’ll be required to serve the entire sentence should they violate their probation.

Both Moses and Fisher also must do 40 hours of community service time and surrender the dogs in this case over to the Sheriff’s office. They also must pay court costs.

Moses and Fisher also cannot own any animals while on probation.

The pair were arrested in October when authorities found two dogs severely malnourished. One of them to the point where she could barely walk.

The dogs were taken from the couple and are in foster homes.
