Cullman Co. Sheriff K9 assists in arrest

Two suspects from Vinemont have been arrested on multiple outstanding warrants after attempting to elude authorities during an attempted traffic stop.

On Friday, Sept. 20, Cullman County Sheriff’s Office investigators and deputies attempted a traffic stop on HWY 157. The suspects, Austin Wade Eipp, 25 of Vinemont, and Brittany Hope Riggs, 27 of Vinemont, led deputies on a pursuit down HWY 157 into West Point.

The suspects then fled from the vehicle on foot and CCSO deputies called K9 deputy Copper for assistance. The suspects were quickly apprehended, and it was discovered they were wanted on multiple warrants.

A large amount of stolen property in the suspects’ possession was also discovered and recovered.

Eipp is charged with the following:

  • 1st degree Theft of Property (W*)
  • 3rd degree Burglary (W)
  • 2 separate counts of 3rd degree Theft of Property (W)
  • 1st degree Criminal possession of a forged instrument (W)
  • 2 separate counts of Unlawful breaking & entering a vehicle (W)
  • 3rd degree Receiving stolen property (W)
  • Attempting to elude (PC* arrest)

Riggs is charged with the following:

  • 1st degree Theft of Property (W)
  • 3rd degree Burglary (W)
  • 3rd degree Theft of Property (W)
  • Failure to Appear UPOCS (Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance) (W)
  • Failure to Appear UPODP (Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia) (W)
  • Attempting to Elude (PC Arrest)
  • Speeding (PC arrest)
  • Reckless Driving (PC arrest)
  • Driving on the wrong side of roadway (PC arrest)

*W = Warrant, PC = Probable Cause Arrest

Both suspects are being held in the Cullman County Detention Center with no bond.
