The project to expand Alabama Highway 157 in Cullman will finally be complete, thanks to a federal grant.
The City of Cullman has been awarded a $14 million grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Better Utilizing Investment to Leverage Development (BUILD) Grant program.
The funds will be used to widen Alabama Highway 157 from two lanes to four, between U.S. Highway 31 and Alabama Highway 69. City leaders say the project will improve access to Cullman Regional.
The grant is the largest grant the city has ever been awarded.
