Cook museum scheduled to open in June

The Cook Museum of Natural Science in downtown Decatur has officially set an opening date.

The long-awaited museum is scheduled to open its doors on June 7th. The museum expects to employ about 80 people and is now accepting applications for 50 positions that have not been filled. The 62,000-square-foot museum will have 11 exhibit galleries, three classrooms, special event space, retail store and more.

“Our mission is to engage, excite and educate. So when people come in the door, we want to lead them on an adventure, to see nature up close and just get excited and inspired by what they see,” said Mike Taylor with the Cook Museum of Natural Science.

The Cook Museum of Natural Science is located on  the corner of Fourth Avenue Northeast and Lee Street.
