The farm bill removes industrial helm as a controlled substance, but if you’re thinking about growing it here in Alabama not so fast.
The recently passed Farm Bill doesn’t open the door yet for production in Alabama.
Alabama Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries, John McMillan says the state will have to submit to the USDA, they’ll have to approve it, then they will be able to start distributing seed in Alabama, and moving ahead with production.
McMillan says the market for industrial hemp, could soon change.
He thinks the market will develop, particularly with the automobile manufacturing that we have going on here in Alabama.
Commissioner McMillan believes Hemp will be apart of the 2020 growing season.
