The man killed in a weekend burglary in Trinity has been identified.

Police say 24-year-old Tchaasu Ankhkara Taylor of Madison broke into the home at 83 Creek Meadow Drive in Trinity early Sunday morning.

The Morgan County E911 Center received a call of a burglary in progress at the Trinity residence and while multiple officers from the Trinity Police Department were responding to the scene multiple shots were fired from inside of the home.

When officers arrived they learned that an unknown male, later identified as Taylor, had forced entry through the rear of the home and armed himself with a knife.

During an ensuing struggle, two residents of the home were injured, and Taylor was shot and died as a result of his injuries. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Both injured residents were transported to Huntsville Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The Decatur Police Department was asked to take over the investigation..

At this time, no charges will be filed. As with all cases of this nature, it will be presented to the Morgan County Grand Jury for consideration.

Meanwhile, WZDX learned that Taylor has a lengthy criminal background. He had just been released from the Madison County jail on May 10th, charged with Kidnapping and Domestic Violence, two days before he was killed in Trinity.

Madison County jail records also show he had been arrested for Burglary and Possession of Concealed Weapons charges.

Madison County Court records also show he was involved in another armed burglary.
