Breweries’ business schedules delayed due to gov’t shutdown

Local breweries are backed up because of the partial government shutdown.

Any new seasonal beers are delayed at Yellowhammer Brewing because the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau that has to process their labels isn’t open.

Yellowhammer’s general manager says they already bought the ingredients for the beers they now can’t make.

“Right now is when we usually ramp up production so everything that we’ve had planned we’re having to delay and it’s just a little frustrating not knowing when it’s going to open up,” said GM Ethan Couch.

The brewery has also been dealing with the tariffs on steel and aluminum. Couch says they’ve seen up to 100 percent increases on the price of aluminum, but they’ve elected to not raise the price of their beer.
